50 Buzzwords You Shouldn’t Use on Your Resume

While there is some merit to your points on 'buzz words' blanketing 50 words as no-no's is not accurate nor helpful advice. Ideal perhaps in a fiction novel but your list is dangerous to the savvy careerist or executive.

Here is why?

#1 The alleged buzz words are often loaded into databases to assist recruiters in weeding out people. Technology in Fortune 100 and 500 companies is not as advanced as one might think. Omit all of your fifty buzz words and candidates may be losing out on key words.

#2 Many of your buzz words are behavioral competencies. Leave the behavioral competencies off and the candidate may never get to the behavioral interview.

#3 Perhaps posting your data on how you came to these words might buy some further credibility. This list and article alone does not.

One FACT that you did list is to list accomplishments. Problem is you list no example.

"Idealistic" advice is tricky. Best of luck!

how can i even click on that j.mp/whatever link when you yourself are using the same old methodologies detailed in this article? the set up and check out. that's a sales technique that died in the early 90's. sorry. try again. in the meantime, do you have any "business solutions" to "save me money" by "boosting efficiencies" and "building synergies"?

Helpful list. Thank you. Many of these words lead to tired, hackneyed, no sizzle resumes and many of them represent opinions, rather than facts. Recruiters and hiring managers want to see facts, not the applicant's opinion of him/herself.

And...there's one common three-word phrase I don't see here that de-sizzles a resume faster than anything. What is it? See here: http://j.mp/do0K2K.
