Thank you Karen. Words are important! I believe that to many powerful words can be threatening to a lot of employers. Maybe not the employer themselves but the people that proof read (filter) for the employer. There are not many "company people" around today, and those that are, worry about losing their job to people that are obviously more educated, trained, certified and qualified!

I read in detail your suggestions to make a profile, learnt about the requirements and found it very helping. The problem was not that of words but their selection so utilized the tips to make an attractive profile. Muhammad Javed Khan

Erin, I hear what you are saying about looking in a certain direction to gather thoughts or while you are processing thoughts. I wouldn't worry to much about the direction you look in because as long as you always look in that same directions then that would be considered normal for you. It's when the person then looks in the opposite direction of what is usual for them that is suppose to tip you off to a fabrication.

I realize body language is a critical part of analyzing communication in any relationship, personal or business related. However, do a person's subconscious eye and body movements differ for left handed people? I feel that it would because I am a lefty and some of the examples mentioned above are not natural movements for my body to make. Regardless if I were telling the truth or lying I would look to the left 99% of the time; it feels unnatural to look off to the right for some reason. I've always been fascinated about handedness since us lefties live in a right handed world. Thanks for the input.

Those are good word to assure the company to hire us, its mean those words are have strong power at psychology side. But in my country let say Indonesia those word don't have a good influence especially at hospitality industry and they just don't appreciate the education that we've passed, they only see the experienced that we had. How to resolve this problem??

Key word usage is very important. I also suggest active listening not just during interviews but also during conversations with people in the field. Who is innovative? Who is failing? What social and economic trends are in play? What do the bulletin boards at job centers really say? When interviewing,

look at the interviewer's eyes when you ask a question. If they shift to the left when the interviewer

answers, he or she is lying to you. A shift to the right indicates truthfulness. When someone sitting is talking with you and is swinging a leg, it indicates annoyance with you. When two colleagues are talking face to face with hips aligned, it's a serious conversation and no time to interrupt. Body language constitutes 85% of all communication. This is true in business and personal relationships.

Karen,

Great tips for job seekers! Keywords are just that - KEY. Hiring managers and recruiters are skimming resumes (as well as their Applicant Tracking Systems, or ATS) and are looking for these keywords. Will your resume stand out? Will it be the perfect match?

Here's where it starts: RESEARCH. Check out the company's website. Monster, Careerbuilder, etc. are great, but don't give you the full picture. Know the company's culture, where (& HOW) you'd fit, as well as the words and language used throughout. Reading the annual report can be very boring, but believe me, you'll know more about the company than the hiring manager or recruiter does if you just look it over! Don't be a know-it-all, but having knowledge of a company, the company's outlook, and their challenges, will help you position yourself as the solution. That's what they're really looking for - the solution (or at worst, a "solutions stimulator").

Great advice. Keep up the good work! I write a job seeker blog as well - would love to have your insight on it!
