I found a legit company and very accommodating sales representatives in "Resume Professional Writers". Hope this help for those who are seeking elite resume writers. You can visit their website at http://www.resumeprofessionalwriters.com

Thanks

Andrew,

As a professional resume writer myself, I agree with your advice. There are several services out there with hidden fees, no telephone communication, and foreign-based writers who speak English as a second language. Hiring a professional writer yields the best results when they take the time to consult with you via telephone and are experts in your industry, as you stated. I think your last point is quite true, as well. Hiring a professional writer does not mean that you can just pay your fee and receive a resume magically - it takes input on the client's end for the writer to gather all the appropriate and/or relevant information to make the resume as effective as it can be. Great advice!

When I had my resume done for me, I simply asked my friends who they had used. Based on a friends recommendation, I hired Beach Resume.

Rukia had a quiestionnaire that i filled out, and we also spoke on the phone for a bit. It was the first time i had hired a resume writer and was very pleased with the process.

I think its really important to find someone you feel comfortable with.

Very valid points. As you say, what qualifies someone over someone else for a service like this?

With any b2c industry, I find asking friends for referrals is key. Anyone can set up a website to look good, but having a friend who has used the service (and liked it) before is golden.

I would suggest you ask the resume writer what industries they are familiar with, before you tell them which industry you work within. If you tell them "I'm a banker, I need resume help" they will probably say "that's my specialty". And a marketing / PR resume will be totally different to e.g. a banker's resume.

Good luck!

In this economy it is difficult to be able to find a professional that is capable of editing your resume and has the reputation and past experience. Make sure you ask your writer what their track record is and where have their clients received jobs at.

Great words of advice Andrew.

I would add to be somewhat careful of larger resume "factory" companies. While the low prices may seem like a "deal," it's important to understand, as you mentioned, many of these companies farm out the resume to other writers. So if you pay $200 for a resume, they may be paying a writer closer to $70. Since many resume writers try to earn around $80 / hour, that poor contracted writer may have many resumes to "bang out" that day. In contrast, hiring an independent writer (not part of a large firm) who has only 1-3 resumes per week, ensures that he or she is able to spend the care and time your resume deserves. A great resume can't be written in one hour no matter how talented the writer is.
