Great tips. Other items might include:

1. If you have a problem, always offer some solutions. Bosses are busy with a lot of things and they don't appreciate it when you just dump a problem on them without having thought out some solutions.

2. Never bad mouth anybody. Managers like people they trust and they don't want to worry about what you might be saying behind their back.

3. If you really want to advance yourself in your manager's mind, learn how they are measured and identify ways you can help them in their personal agenda.
