I don't mind an occasional joke but please if you do send one, delete all of the prior sent information.

Sending large files (over 3-5MB) via email is akin to moving your house via USPS. Not only does it bog everything down in your own mailbox, but often, it slows down a shared broadband connection and possibly even the sending and receiving mail servers.

If a large attachment *must* be sent via email, it is polite to inform the recipient of the situation, and seek consent before "dumping" it on him or her (or worse, on multiple recipients).

In business communications:

1 Write in point form.

2 Avoid writing a long story.

3 Be specific to the subject line.

4 If an action is required, clearly identify what is expected from the recipient.

5 ALWAYS read before sending and ask: do I understand it? Is there anything else I would ask or need to communicate?

Not using the "Auto Spell Check before Sending" feature. People tell me they don't like waiting for the message to finish spell checking. They'd rather look dumb sending typos and misspellings?
