How to Work with a Bad Boss

I have a boss who is lazy. She doesn't direct you in the right manner and does take credit for your doing. She is quick to point out your wrongdoings and tries to make you look bad. She does ask you to lie and she doesn't believe in all people. She also has her favorites and it is frustrating. I keep giving the benefit of the doubt, but she continues to disappoint me and the staff. They are losing intrest and they don't trust her. I use to, but I don't eitherr. The people they say she helped promote, got training from someone else or they were business smart to get out. I want the best for her, and try to work consistently with her, but she a dead end. After al, she has been at her job for 8 1/2 years and have been promoted only because their was noone else....help???

Never saw anything like it. Doesn't let ANYONE perform his/her job without butting in, interrupts every conversation, talks over everyone, focuses on his own "accomplishments" and ideas (things that worked in spite of him, rather than because of him, and weren't his idea in the first place), concerned only about how any action reflects on his bonus $$ (whether it is the right thing for clients or not), sophomoric behavior is a constant whether with employees or clients. Just a complete embarrassment. You would just cringe if you had to participate in a meeting with him.

I agree with Christy of FL. There are some bosses that just do not understand the value of relationships.

Yes, the work needs to be done when you want it to be done. You don't have to berate, belittle or yell to get what you done when you want it done. It should be a last resort but it's a poor style. It's especially unnecessary these days since many people seem to still engage in it. You get so much more accomplished by being professional and showing your humanness. You just want to keep professional until you have a relationship - a connection.

These are articles are great - I would love to see the next ones - go deeper - maybe outside what is common.

How about a boss that speaks to people in a rude manner to clients or speaks poorly of other employees to clients and other employees?
