Hi Allison

Your "Common Job Interview Questions" are very informative. I had several interviews and was surprised at some of the questions. Now that I saw them listed, I'll be prepared next time.

Thank you

Mark

Leonard's comments are very good, but at the same time I think applicants can't ignore the old "standard" questions, either.

As a job interview and career coach, I find these are definitely some of the most predictable questions. It's very valuable to have them in mind during preparation. But rehearsing specific answers to them with lots of practice as suggested here creates canned, unspontaneous, and unmemorable interviews.

Yes, it will keep you from making mistakes, but it won't connect you with interviewers from an authentic, appealing place, and connecting with the interviewers as a person they'd like to work with (or have in their group, dept or org) is key.

Instead, preparation can focus on stories of success that apply to many questions, rather than detailed answers which will leave you in the dark when an unexpected (black swan) question comes up as it typically will. Here's one short post about job interview prep. http://www.choosingacareerblog.com/career-ideas/keys-to-job-interview-preparation
