Professionally, since graduating from college 2 years ago, I am an engineer by day. (I have undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering) I certainly can't say that I don't like engineering, even though it demands a lot of time & efforts.
However, I do know that I feel like I love the field of investments (finance).
Being able to do the analysis and finding perfect positions (stocks etc..) for my own portfolio energizes me quite a bit, which I have been doing for myself for about 1-2 years in a spare time. Only issue is that I don't know whether it's a passion or is it a lucrativeness of rewards that's holding my attention in this field.
How do I distinctly differentiate what my passion vs interest is?
Any guidance/suggestion will be much appreciated.

I am 40 yrs old and love my job. I actually have a job in the corporate world and run my own buiness. I find that my creative needs and real needs (consistant pay, benefits) are met. I would love to go out into the world after graduation and get the job I have majored in for four years. I have sent out resumes and the unfortunate problem is there are no jobs in my field. So, after graduating phi beta kappa I will not go looking for a job in another field or take some low paying job, I will continue to go to school and get my Master's Degree and broaden my options. More of my friends are doing this.

What if I'm not interested in any of the flourishing fields right now and am instead only interested in jobs with crumbling industries (like librarianship) and, just to make things more fun, have skills that are difficult to quantify?
And I'm afraid I have to say that your article is quite obvious. It's kind of an "encouraging" kind of piece, perhaps for those thinking about leaving a job, but don't we all know that we perform better when we're not miserable? Not such a shocker to at least one reader.
I find it really annoying that our culture perpetuate the fallacious notion that we can all find work we love. Not true at all. If you come from the middle or upper classes, yes, then it's perhaps very possible. However, for those of us without career connections, opportunities, or educations at good schools, we're shut out. Please qualify that your message applies only to those with a certain degree of privilege. The rest of us may be able to survive, but at a certain point, we'll give up the notion of thriving. It's not in the cards for everyone.
