A few things I have done lately include:
-creating a spreadsheet of all LinkedIn connections which includes a column for birthday. If a connection has a birthday listed on their profile, I will send them a birthday greeting on the day of their birthday.
-add the Twitter application to LinkedIn profile and follow the tweets of your connections plus ensure that tweet something each day if possible but do not tweet the same each day or each hour.
-thank you in all correspondence.
