Rather Than Avoiding Your Boss, Chat Him Up

I once had a supervisor that would look down at the floor to avoid talking to people. I took solace in the fact that it wasn't just me but everyone. I found that if I broke the ice and asked him how he was doing and just started a conversation, he was much more comfortable talking to me as time went on. He wasn't comfortable talking one-on-one, but the more we talked, the more comfortable he became. I'm sure that it improved my likability, and career path.
