I think it's wrong to keep a person that has done wrong from getting a job, that just causes them to do more wrong. The only people I think that should be treated that way is sex offenders.

This is interesting advice. It's a good idea to check your background before a potential employer does. This way you know what to expect and you don't have any surprises.

I agree with Mr Coffey. Still, it is important to know what an employer will see, as well as what they are legally allowed to see. I run background checks (criminal, eviction, and SSN) all the time and find about 60% of them have what I term "surprises". Fortunately, I am able to help the potential applicants understand what is/is not on the reports, and what can be done to address the concerns.

The best way to do that is to contact the county records yourself.

And - having reviewed his slide show - it is right on the money.

The central aim of such companies likely is to exploit the personal information provided by customers by selling it to third parties.

"By registering at the Site, Members agree that such act constitutes an inquiry and/or application for purposes of the Amended Telemarketing Sales Rule (16 CFR §310 et seq.), as amended from time to time (the "Rule") and applicable state do-not-call regulations. As such, notwithstanding that a Member's telephone number may be listed on the Federal Trade Commission's Do-Not-Call List, and/or on applicable state do-not-call lists, we retain the right to contact that Member via telemarketing in accordance with the Rule and the applicable state do-not-call regulations.

"In addition, by submitting personal information at the Site, Members agree to receive mobile marketing including, but not limited to, text-message based marketing, from us and our third party advertisers and marketers (where, and to the extent that, such marketing is permitted by applicable law). As such, notwithstanding that a Member's mobile telephone number may be listed on state and/or federal Do-Not-Call registries, we retain the right to contact that Member via text-message based marketing in accordance with applicable state and federal law.
