How to Get a Job in the Non-Profit Sector

Does anyone have advice for the opposite concern? I have been working in the non-profit sector my entire career. I am now in my late 30s, and am tired of working insanely hard for pennies. We are struggling financially, and I am realizing that if I had more money, I would have more resources to invest toward the charitable things that I care about. But I have NO IDEA HOW TO BREAK INTO THE CORPORATE SECTOR! Does anyone have advice?

Hi Miriam,

Let me add a resource for helping people find non-profits they might want to work for: GuideStar.org.

Guidestar provides a free, searchable database that includes most U.S. based nonprofits. It also provides free copies of the information return, Form 990, that nonprofits have to file with the IRS every year.

Form 990 provides financial, governance, and program information about each organization. It's invaluable as a place to start learning about any nonprofit of interest to a job seeker.
