It is true that the last bill provided little positive effect on the economy but that is only because states were cutting back spending while Obama was increasing spending. This plan will work, ceteris paribus. All anyone can do in this sort of economic situation is hope that what you do is not effected by outside variables.

Lindsay, Lindsay, you poor nieve child.

Don't you realize the "new" jobs bill is just a new name for the old stimulus which failed to generate ANY sustainable jobs in "the private sector". All the jobs tageted in the stimulus ah.. er.. jobs bill are government and union jobs, for union people who generely tend to vote democrate in elections. It's our tax dollars taken from us by washington to sustain big government.

Some of these unions have had a wakeup call like the teachers of WI. When state government asked the teachers union to contribute more to healthcare and pension costs, the union (bosses) said NO.

The citizens of this country cannot afford to pay what polititions have given to union workers in exchange for votes through higher and higher taxes.

This administration doesn't believe that by cutting taxes to businesses and individuals, it would provide a flood of new money into the economy due to individuals having more of thier money to spend. Poeple would get jobs the govenment would get more tax revenue from happy workers rather than squeezing it out of a stagnated economy.

Not everyone unemployed is a teacher, firefighter or policeman. These are important positions but represent a small percentage of the people unemployed. The solution to the jobs issue is to create small business opportunities through tax breaks and incentives not government handouts.

This is not good legislation. The last stimulus idea had my employer firing good employees so they could hire TANF recipients and collect re-imbursement for the first three months of employment. One such employee was given a supervisory job with no experience, wasn’t computer literate and could not do basic math. Yes, we had to teach her to use an adding machine. Needless to say they did not last a year. Oh I might add she stated she was pregnant (#3), and quit shortly thereafter. We really didn’t miss her as she was always sick on the weekends and was constantly in the “outside conference” room aka smoking lounge. Oh, and her husband called about 10 times a day and she ate at the expensive restaurant next door. Glad we gave her food stamps too cause no one else could afford to eat there. More people were hurt than were helped …. This is wrong on every level.

Public parasite unions with their enormous benefits and pensions are the problem, not the solution.

I easily found a job after an honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force. In 2006 I lost my job at a large pharmaceutical company after 16 years. Since then I have looked and applied for work diligently not only applying for jobs associated with my experience but for anything. I have received zero offers. I ended up losing my home, car, retirement account and most of my possessions. My unemployment ran out at the beginning of 2010 and I have lived off of what I had saved. On the first of April I used my last dollar for rent on a small room. Since then I have gone looking for some sort of aid to keep me from becoming homeless. I have contacted the local VA, local Community Action Agency, Catholic Charities, VFW, Purple Hearts, American Legion, United Way, Goodwill, city mayor's office even Senator's office and received NO help or assistance and in some cases no reply whatsoever. No one really seems to care. My sons can stay with their mother, but I've joined the ranks of the homeless. My country gained my admiration seeing it work from the inside while I served it. Now I am gaining a new perspective of it from the food pantry and the homeless shelter. http://tinyurl.com/679ktlu

Just curious – I heard one of his speeches a few weeks ago and I had thought that even the Democrats were not supporting him.

Has actual legislation now been introduced into either the house or senate, and where is the legislation in the process?

Thank you for the update,

Glenn
