What about asking if a training period is paid? Not how much, but just whether or not it's paid.

"What benefits do you offer?" is related to the number one question to never ever ask: "How much do you pay?"

Everything in a job interview must be focused on what you can give to the employer, not what the employer can do for you. The time for that is later, when you have an offer.

It doesn't matter what the job pays if you never get an offer because you asked about it.
