These are excellent suggestions. Those seeking a job at a start-up may also want to get entrepreneurial and creative in their applications - that is, look critically at what the start-up is doing (with its website, business model, service offerings, etc.) and describe what you'd improve if you were hired. Make it hard for the company's managers to turn you away.
