The Best Ways to Communicate During the Job Hunt

I agree with Mr. Lorenzo. In Philippines the age is a big factor. No matter how good you are or how long your job experienced tells, it doesn't mean a thing because they do look for your age not for what you can do for the company. Sucks!!! But it is really true. I had a big respect for other foreign companies. (Especially American/European Co’s.) Because they believe in people ability and they do hire people not base on their age. I worked with foreign companies and I can really tell the big difference. Mostly foreign company hired you because they believe you can do the job and will not discriminate you because you are only High School graduate and you are above 30 year old already. In Philippines if you just finished Secondary Education you are lucky if you will plunge into a better job or someone will hire you. Very rare that a company in Philippines will hire you because they knew you can do the job and they don’t need to teach you how to do the job. They mostly hired an-experienced people that they need to teach to do the job. The younger you are the better chance for you to take the job. The single you are, then you 99% qualified. If you are a single parent, you’ll have 50/50 chance to get the job. Lol. If you are above 30 year old better look for job opportunity in overseas. Crazy!!! Well, guys… I’m talking through my experienced. Sad, that my own country can’t help endowed & experienced people just because of the age limit that is always fall under the top qualifications required. You can agree and disagree with me. My opinion is mine and yours is yours. ;-) Cheers!!

I am very, very greatful of your article.. I only have one problem.. It is not the RESUME... It is my age..

I am 71 -years old but I look like 55.. Here in the Philippines, when y reach that age, NOBODY will even consider giving you an INTERVIEW.. You are DONE..I am very healthy and have no health prpblem at all. Any sugestions.....?

Mr. Poole, you seemed to get annoyed over a few steps that take seconds. Are you serious? Many times a fax does not come over as professional as printed out from an attachment.

I hope the young lawyer doesn't work for you, because you get so "annoyed" over nothing!

Some people just aren't given a chance to be hired, anyway. For all of the interviewers that are just hiring by appearance, that isn't right anyhow, it is who knows who or what favors they will do for who!

Sound bad, well, face the facts, it is true! Those kinds of jobs don't require an interview--the benefits of them are short-lived; often death!

Integrity, honesty and true kindness slipped through

the cracks long ago! We reap what we sow!

Some good points. Some employers like to get everything by email and incorporate them into searchable databases, while others don't. Last year a young lawyer asked me to review his resume, but was unable to fax it as I requested. Instead he emailed an attachment, which I had to open, print, then remove from my computer drive. Instead of picking the document up from my fax, i had to go through an annoying series of steps, which didn't help my impression of his abilities.
