10 Work Habits That Could Get You Fired

I fired my original assistant of my growing business for 5 of the 10 points above. She had fair warning.

Bottomline: If you're doing any of the points above, it means you're unhappy with your job...so get out. Find a job/boss that's a better fit. You deserve to be happy and the right position for you.

Not only will you benefit from the change, so will the company. Our team is so much more productive, peaceful and positive because I freed my assistant from staying someplace she obviously hated.

When i was in the workforce, I was always evaluated as not getting along with others. I never understood that because I always worked hard, helped anyone at any time, did whatever was asked of me and more, completed my work ahead of schedule and got more work, was never late. I am a quiet and shy person and never talk excessively. I always gave more than 8 for 8 and took pride in my performance and work ethics. I even stepped outside my comfort zone to train in classroom situations whenever asked to do so. I never participated in gossip and treatred everyone with respect. Yet, in every job I ever had, I "did not get along well with others". Everything else on my evaluations were always above average.

Also, in most states it is mandatory that you get a 10 minute break for every 4 hours worked if you work an 8 hour shift!

In the above article, you frequentlly refer to the boss as being female (her). Not all bosses or managers are female. I've had a couple of jobs where I've had either a male or female as a boss, sometimes in the same job/company, as on manager moves on or get promoted.

This doesn't mean I have anything against women being in management positions and , as I've had a couple female manages I thought were better that their male counterparts and could definitely do the job better or at least equal to.

In number 5 of "10 Myths About Workplace Rights", you meant to say that the myth is: Your employer CAN'T reassign or restructure your job.

Hi,

My name is Teresa and I disagree with the statement made on "The 10 Myths of Workplace Rights #7". The reason I disagree with this statement is the heading talks about breaks, but the meat of the statement talks about lunch. True-there is no federal law that says an employer has to give employees breaks. However, there is Department of Labor laws that do state in certain states within the US that if an employee works at least six hours in a day, they must be given 30 minutes for lunch.

I do agree that the 15 minute breaks that some jobs offer employees are not enforced by law and that the employer do not have to provide these type breaks. The 15 minute breaks are a priviledge provided by the employer to the employee and can be taken away at the discretion of the employer.

Wow, Ryan, amazing job getting that far! Me, I wrote the dude off as a moron when his example of online activity was "plays an unreal amount of golf and and takes a ridiculous amount of vacations" -- never even made it to #2.

"6. Congress hasn't passed a budget in over 1000 days and ultimately he's in charge of Congress. "

I quickly skimmed your comments, stopped here and proceded no further.

This is Government 101 and a basis for why our country, the great United States of America, was formed. Sharing of power, checks and balances and the really big word, democracy. There is no "single power", all three branches of government must agree on just about everything. Long story short, the President is NOT in charge of Congress, we are, the People of the United States. Congress is an elected body that governs for us.

Obama does all of these.

1. He plays an unreal amount of golf and and takes a ridiculous amount of vacations.

2. He complains about Americans all the time.

3. He never admits he's wrong, and he's wrong a lot.

4. He said something one time wasn't up to his pay grade.

5. He hates Republicans

6. Congress hasn't passed a budget in over 1000 days and ultimately he's in charge of Congress.

7. He sloughs off everything he can then takes another vacation.

8. He's thrown an unreal amount of White House parties.

9. He's extremely defensive and hates criticism.

10. He's never released any of his personal records from college, his medical records, and released a faked birth certificate.

Sorry I have omitted the letter 'S' in my comment. It should be "that could result in you being fired"
