How to Follow Up On Your Job Application

Okay, great, now what if all the experience you have is unpaid? Then what? At twenty-one, you'd think I'd have had something by now, but I've been looking for retail/fastfood work since I was eighteen and I haven't found a thing. It's because I have no paid experience, but I can't get that without someone hiring me. So, perhaps you ought to consider those of us with no experience who need work. What do you do then? You don't stand out to the employer at all without experience, and I have plenty of unpaid, interesting stuff, but it isn't "relevant" or paid. So, what do I do in this situation to get hiring managers to notice me?

It is really hard if not impossible to find the e-mail of managers... So yeah.

Hey Alison im 16, I think i should say before i start. I have applied for Reeboks sports wear, but i feel like i have called a couple times (probably a bit much) and i have been told the same thing over and over.I would like to have some closure from them. Mainly a time frame of when they should get back to me. A couple of my classmates told me they applied, never followed up, and got hired. Why cant it be just that easy?

Hi Alison, I just went for an interview this Monday and I'm really hoping to get the job. I have been through a lot of job searching and most of it ended up being KIV-ed out of sheer unluckiness I guess. This recent interview was most of it okay as the hiring manager did made reference that if he were to hire me with my qualifications and skills, he would envision me doing this, this, this, this (kind of making future references) and when I asked the HR rep when I could get any news about the application, she confidently said this week. I'm not so sure whether this is a good indication as I am afraid to hope that it is. I have been through a lot of job interviews whereby I thought I have nailed the interviews but was not offered. Do let me know what are your thoughts on this?

I have a question regarding a job that I am applying for:

I am applying for a position within my company but outside my department (another location). Our company uses a contracted recruiting company and this is where my application materials are being reviewed. My next steps are an online assessment and a short phone interview with the recruiting agent. If successful, my materials then get passed to the hiring manager. It has been two weeks and I have followed up with the recruiting agent, but should I send a letter to the hiring manager? Just introducing myself and attaching my resume?

Any help on this situation would be grateful.
