DENISE ANDERSON-HARRIS of IL 8:03PM April 03, 2012

I have a question about whether I should advertise for another IT job. I worked for over 25 years as an IT mainframe programmer / analyst and last performed this type of work in November 2007 at $43 per hour. The market was slow in 2008 and I was not able to find work.

I have thought about putting an add in the newspaper and offering my services for the minimum of $10 per hour just to get back into the profession. Do you believe this has possibllities?

Please advise.

I had a bank teller job for 2 years but it was long

ago in 1972 thru 1974.

I have since done programming / analysis contract work for 25 years but that work has dried up for me.

Would it be neccessary to put all of my programming / analysis work on my resume because that is a different profession and has nothing to do with teller work?

Most informative. It is always important to have structure and to break up your day .

Is it ever okay to have your spouse doing the job hunting for you? My spouse is making me do a lot of it and gets angry if I don't work on it often through out the day. Also gets upset if I use the wrong method of sending their information for each job lead. (e.g. fax, email, or online apply) It's VERY frustrating for me right now. I have many other duties and responsibilities I need to get to during my days, not to mention that I'm quite often sick these days and this is all wearing thin on me!

I really like, it is brief and to the point.

I would add, to the mental health part, to read every week one book (novels, biografies, ...) like intelectual excercise.

Even when we have a job, we should never finish with school. Always we can find an interesting short course or degree to study. Let's be a little eternal student.
