And people wonder why companies don't want to hire employees. What a headache this politically correct nonsense is.

A company should have the right to hire or disqualify anybody for any reason they like. Period.

This article suggest these are illegal questions - fact is they are not illegal questions, not to dance on a pin, but basing the decision on the answers is illegal, asking them is perfectly legal (with the exception of the disabilities question). An employer who does ask these questions is at the very least not a very good interviewer, and this should be a red flag for job seekers.

I once had an interview with a local well known real estate broker for what I clearly understood prior-to was a receptionist job. Upon my arrival, the lobby was packed. Not too unusual for a real estate office. When it was my turn to interview, the Broker asked me two whole questions: what was my high school GPA and my college GPA. I told him I did not recall -so I threw in a high score. He addressed Absolutely NO details about the receptionist position at all. Clearly I was puzzled and finally addressed it. He got quizzical and then retorted that as I could see, he HAD a receptionist. I politely 'reminded' him that that was what I was there for; what HE had invited me to interview for. He became politely irritated and 'thanked me' for my time.

Obviously, what I was unwittingly 'interviewing' for a broker-training position - not the original Receptionist opening. Naturally I wanted to tell the guy off, or less give him a piece of my mind, but a man in his position only hears himself.

Some time later, he started getting indicted for fraud or misrepresentation. Think I should have taken the broker job....

Re age: often they ask what are the dates of your graduate degrees....then they can connect the dots; but all they need do is call each university & get that info, so we really can't hide age.

This reminds me of the around 1995 I interviewed with an ambulance chaser attorney. I didn't want the job once I realized it was the lowlife I saw on late night tv ads. But my car didn't have air conditioning and it was 100 degrees in Dallas in July so I stuck it out. He asked me if I had reliable transportation, children, were my children in day care and about 2 other illegal questions. Next to each illegal question, I wrote "This is an illegal question." He chewed my ear off about what a great lawyer he was and finally let me go (which was to my next job interview). At 11pm that night, I got a call from his wife offering me the job. I said no way.
