@Vicki: Thanks for your positive remarks and additional suggestions. Great idea re: donning interview clothes and videotaping, then studying, a practice session!

@Allison: Appreciate your kind remarks. Good point about the accumulation of information during job search and the need to organize and track it using readily available tools. I wasn't familiar with tucows.com until now. Thanks for the value-add!

Jacqui, this is a well written article and appropriate for both new comers and established job seekers. I would suggest they look at software programs to muscle up their job search as well. Most job seekers are not aware of the massive amount of information they have to track. By the time they realize they need some help, they could be two months into the job search and feel worthless. Consider sending people to download.com or tucows.com to find some job search tools. JobTabs Job Search & Resume did wonders for me, but what works for me may not work for someone else. There are some really helpful software packages that will help job seekers carry out the steps you prescribed.

Sincerely,

Allison McGillory

I would have enjoyed this article much more if the author, JACQUI BARRETT-POINDEXTER, hadn't come off as being condescending. The post was unenjoyable to read and made me feel like a child in detention. This does not make me receptive to your tips; consider working on your tone or getting a different job if you hate what you do so much.
