Becky always has excellent insights, and this is a perfect example. I lso find it interesting that Becky so easily bridges traditional small business America with today's social media, using blogs and Twitter in new ways. She's living proof doing the 3 things she suggests other business owners focus on.

As a tax return preparer who specializes in small business and farm returns, I agree wholeheartedly that "Bookkeeping and Accounting" should be at the top of everyone's list. It not only helps you know where you are, but by doing some of the yourself, you will save lots of money when you have to pay someone else (like me) to do your income tax returns.

I agree with Sheila, Becky is at the top of my go-to list! As a small business counselor for SBDC I know how important it is to small business owners to have some common sense advice available. I encourage all of my clients to use www.smallbizsurvival.com as a trusted resource. Her business cards are on my desk.

I can't think of a more well-rounded, experienced person than Becky McCray to write for USNWR about all aspects of running a small business; great to see her here!
