Hi, I'm just a kid, and I need a little guidence. Right now, I am confused by all of the rumors whirling around about the current job market. I agree with consta, because right now, my dad is trying to retire. Help?!

Of course, this article does not include what you might hope to earn in those job sectors. I already work in an archives, which is why I will be working for the rest of my life. Interesting work environment - yes. Realistic pay scale - no. But then, I also see "entertainment attendants" and home health care workers on this list, too.

I have also been reading the labels more and more and am truly adamant about not buying anything made in China. I will walk out with nothing rather than break down. I refuse to work at Walmart either. Just because I am 49 does not mean I have to accept some menial friggin job. I have done enough of these crummy jobs like answering service etc.

The idea you will retire at 65 is a myth. It seems Americans will have to face the reality of working until you drop!

While I find it interesting to read that the zoomer population is getting hired and that they are working at jobs they like I prefer to look at this from a different perspective. I'm a life coach who works with women in transition and are over 50. The opportunities for women in this age group to start a small business are very encouraging and will ensure that they can retire wealthy. The win/win on this is that they will be doing something they love to do, that's our work together, and they'll be in charge of their living expenses when they retire and not the socially available government programs. Did you know by the time a woman reaches 80 the odds are that more than 50% of us will be living in poverty? That's outrageous and avoidable. Starting a small business now and watching it grow over 15 or 20 years provides an opportunity to accumulate enough wealth to be comfortable during our retirement.

I don't know about you but I'm not expecting the government to take care of me and, because I was diagnosed with a chronic illness for six years I have no benefits, I'm in charge and I'm ok with that.

Agree re: don't buy anything from China. I've been focusing on that 2 yrs now. Look at labels on products, most made in China, disgusting and the continued downward spiral of USA tax paying, unemployed citizens. Push for tax levy paid solely by CEO and Board of Directors of US companies that offshore jobs. Want folks to listen and create jobs--hit CEO & Board wallets. Obama backed out on campaign promise to levy offshored taxes, let's make it happen.

I JUST READ AN ARTICLE WHERE APPLE'S MANUFACTURING PLANT IN CHINA HAS HAD 11 EMPLOYEE SUICIDES. WORKING EMPLOYEE'S 6 DAYS A WEEK, 12 HOURS A DAY. LET'S FACE IT STEVE/CEO OF APPLE IS ONLY THERE TO EXPLOIT THESE PEOPLE AS A MEANS OF GREED. NOW HE'S DECIDED TO GIVE THEM A 30% INCREASE IN WAGES! WE ALL KNOW HE'D NOT GET AWAY WITH WORKING AMERICAN WORKER'S THOSE HOURS WITH THE U.S. LABOR BOARD!!!

WELL I DECIDED I'M GOING TO EXPLOIT CEO/STEVE OF APPLE COMPUTER. I'M NOT GOING TO BUY "ANYTHING" THAT'S "APPLE" EVER AND SEE HOW HE LIKES IT.

WE ALL SHOULD DO THE SAME FOR ALL U.S. COMPANIES GOING TO CHINA!

I know there are people that blame the union but like TL said it's a give and take situation. There are people in jobs that have so much stress to them and they will not get raises like they should because the corporation wants to work the person more than should be and not want to reward them appropriately.

Maybe if big companies paid their workers what they are worth such as "Walmart"

maybe the people would have more money to buy American. Unions! We need more of them to represent people not less of them.
