Has congress considered changing law regarding 72T accounts considering the recession. I am 56 l/2 and would like to stop taking distributions from my retirement that is set up in a 72T account since the stock market is so bad

...with our congressmen and senators. WHO was the lawmaker who wrote "2009" in this bill????

Well, how ridiculous. Seniors need relief now. Not next year. But the government needs people to spend, AND they need the tax dollars from those accounts.

"Sorry.... you lose this year, retirees, but next year you'll get your relief. That is, unless we change our minds."

What is the status - will the Senate act on this in the near future?

It is nice that the government has suspended the RMD for 2009. But that is a year away. Citizens need relief for 2008. The government needs to act right now to afford some relief to our citizens. They spend too much time and money helping big companies like AIG and don't do enough for the average taxpayer.
