The younger ones are running scared, they don''t want to learn or do the work. Most dont like there parents/grandarents They won't really like you either. They get real scared when you know the answers and afraid of loosing the joj. Take advantage of you because they can and use your age when ever they can.We know it all, you most everything throught life experience.

I worked a few years after retirement in the same inustry. I was happy to work part time. I knew the job was over qualified but love the work and customers.

I had a great boss but she was gone a lot the 3 people in the office played all day. I couldn't take it anymore.

I am sorry to say that I am tired of people like you expecting the rest of us to pay for your education just becuase you are 55! There are grants, loans etc available to go back to school. I have worked my whole life. After 30 years my ex left me without a dime. I went back to school, got my BS and now I have my own home and a paid for car. At the present time i am 69 and still working. If i can do it, then so can you!!!! Please quit expecting all of us to pay for you. If you do it for yourself, then you will be proud of your own accomplishments and no one will be able to take it away. What if the younger generation expected you to pay for them before you could pay for yourself, wouldn't you want to know why they couldn't do it themselves. You should appreciate yourself more and realize that yes you have lived a while but getting the government involved in your life will cause more pain than its worth. "Do your own thing"

I WAS EMPLOYED IN A LARGE SOUTHWEST CITY WHERE WOMEN MAKE A GOOD SALARY (RIGHT UP THERE WITH THE MEN). WHEN I MOVED TO LOUISIANA, I FOUND IT IMPOSSIBE TO FIND WORK DUE, TO WHAT I BELIEVE TO BE THAT THE PEOPLE INTERVIEWING ME WERE AFRAID I WOULD REPLACE THEM OR SOMEONE ELSE IN THE COMPANY. THIS IS NOT FAIR. FIRST OF ALL, I KNEW I WOULD NOT MAKE THE INCOME HERE THAT I HAD MADE IN THE BIG CITY I HAD MOVED FROM. I WAS AND AM STILL WILLING TO DO ANY OFFICE WORK JUST TO KEEP MYSELF BUSY.

ANY SUGGESTIONS?

In a lot of areas, older workers are preferred not just for their experience, but for their dependability. More mature employees can, for the most part, be counted on to be there doing what they are supposed to without the supervision a lot of the younger work force needs.

Situations vary though and some find themselves unemployed with no prospects. I feel sorry for them because it isn't their fault. Not everyone could go to college and get the white collar jobs. I didn't go to college, however I have such a variety of skills that I can almost always find something that needs to be done & make $$ doing it, but this isn't the same as having the security of a full time job. I got laid off almost two years ago, replaced by a younger, less expensive employee. Having been in business for myself before, I didn't really even try to find another job but rather became a full time moonlighter. I like it better, have a lot more variety in my life, meet and talk with more people and enjoy life more. I will probably never totally stop working.

I believe the 55 and older generation should not be considered retirement age. I am 55 and do not feel 55.I feel much younger and plan to go back to school and start a new career.Us so called 55 and over have found new ways to stay healthy ,with so many exercize programs for everyone and more info on healthy heart and bodies we will not be considered old in the years to come.I raised 5 children and have a fun spirit looking to start a new career. I would say to have the president look into rewarding us for our lifes expierences and help pay for college for us. We earned it.Forget about how many college credits we have or passing a test.We have more than any test grade, and thats wisdom and life expierences, dont we get credits for that?

P.S. I also was a single mom for 10 years when Iwas 17 to 27. I went to nursing school and worked as a LPN ,I also worked at the same time as a watress. I became a nail technician and worked while my children were small.I have taken a break because I was able to and now Iam ready to go to college.Dont waste the brain.
