I have done research and seen reports that the opposite is true...men, especially men, who felt they had no control of their lives during their working years are doing MUCH better in retirement than high level guys. These men now appreciate their own time and feel empowered...the formerly big honcho types are completely at sea as to what to do with their time and their lives...and thus feel more stress now.

And, I imagine that people who had higher-paying careers are generally happier in retirement because they have greater resources for peace of mind. Fair guess?
