Baby Boomers Still Using Illegal Drugs

It will still take a while before they legalize pot, for as much as they can tax it it won't be as profitable as it is until it's illegal. Anybody remembers the fortunes created during the prohibition times?

Elmer,

Duuuuuuuuude...relax.

The author of the article never presented any evidence of a direct relationship between casual recreational drug use and higher medical costs that must be shared by taxpayers. Let's wait until the evidence is in before condemning people for indulging in a little attitude adjustment, shall we? Or are you one of those people who are forever running around trying to catch other people having fun because you don't know how to have fun yourself? I want you to think about that Elmer.

I agree. All these drug addicted "Baby Boomers" are just irresponsible idiots that never grew up or rather, don't want to. So why should the rest of society have to support these morons. They have no brains left due to their illegal drug use and abuse. Let them wake up to reality for a change, and have to support themselves by not supporting their bad choices. We need to keep a ban on drugs and also not allow Big Pharma. brainwash the rest of us that they need medicines that are not needed just to fill Pharmaceutical companies pockets with tax payer money.

As a registered nurse I see more drug abuse by patients in a hospital setting than one would like to think about, all legally prescribed for them by MDs. I too am all for legalizing marijauna. I believe the government is missing a huge money making machine for our country. Nothing is more dangerous than tobacco, I see the effects of this everyday and also alchohol. I have known many people over the course of my life who have smoked pot and the majority are all reputable citizens with great careers, many professionals. They have done well financially and have also raised wonderful children. The time has come, legalize pot, tax it and sell it. No one is ever going to stop people from getting it, and it is no where near as dangerous or immoral as it is made out to be. It's about choice and like it was noted previously there will always be abuse by those that are not responsible with their lives.

I don't understand all of the posts about money-hungery Doctors and drug pushing pharmacutical companies. It is one thing if you have a life threatning illness somthing that needs to be controlled by medication of one type or another, but my God you're all adults.Do you not take responsibility for anything you do in this life? Always looking for an out,a way not to feel reality or a little pain. And if things go south, blame the government,or your parents, the tobbacco companies etc.Use your brains once in awhile. You might be surprised at what you can do on your own.If you love drugs, well thats where you want to be,but take responsibility for your desires.Don't pass the buck, thats how we arrived at this place.

I would bet that the numbers are much higher.

As a child I was given morphine (paragoric) for a stomach ache. I am 51.

We are the first generation that was raised on drug use.

The fact that pot use is admitedly so prevalent is a tribute to our survival instincts, with the pharmacutical industry (THE LEGAL DRUG CARTELL) and their unholy aliance with western doctors (YOUR LOCAL LEGAL DEALER), its a miracle that more of us have not ended up like Jackson or Presely.

They are very correct in stating that all drugs are harmful, and become more so as we age, but the concept that Pharmacuticals are some how better for you is ridiculous. Have you ever read the specifications on the drugs prescribed?

I suggest meditation. Its free and no one is going to make a buck off your suffering.

Medically speaking weed has relieve a lot of people of cronic pain. I'm pro when it comes to it's medical use. As with anything there will be it's abusers. I say legalize it, tax it, and sell it. When it goes legal it won't be abused, in fact when it is not legal everyone want's to try it cuz it's sneaking to do it. thus abuse....

Baby Boomers haa,How about those baby boomers who had kids?they call us generation X, (AKA) in the way kids.Talking about some marijuana? How about get ready for our generation who have gone through methamphetamines, cocaine,MDMA(ecstacy) and perscption drugs!Available through our corrupt healthcare system, meaning greedy doctors that just want some compensation to pay those high cost of living bills. So what do they learn in there first day of class?Get you on some sort of pill, but repeat after me,"these are not addictive and are not habit forming" whatever, why do I keep coming back to see you then?,Heard that before.Get ready U.S for when generation X is ready for retirement, you baby boomer parents never taught us about retirement, you might of been too high at the time.

I have used pot for many years. Sill do. Almost everyday or when it is practical. Basically when I can relax. Watch a game, favorite show etc.

I'm in good physical condition and owned a business and have enough money to retire now. I'm less than 55.

My kids are grown, have degrees and are working.

Any questions? Legalize it, tax it and solve the budget crisis.

whats extremely hard to rationalize is why a generation with such a high level of education has not thought thru the propaganda of ignorance that has always suggested that "weed" causes "reefer madness". its not the number of boomers still toking thats incredible...its the ones that havent repealed the wasteful laws that do nothing but discriminate against and criminalize a small section of our population, usually poor and young. not the 50+s.
