No Social Security Increase in 2010

I became disabled and totally unable to work; and therefore, I qualified for SSI in December 2011. I was told that the Federal government (Obama & the Democrates in power) capped SSI to $715 in December 2009 to where no one can receive more that $715 a month, no matter how much they have put into their social security accounts. How does anyone live off of $715 a month? I was awarded only $180 from the Federal government and I'm very concerned I will lose my home. I cannot live off of this small amount and I don't have any family support or anyway to provide for myself. I had to cash out my retirement which was very small;and now I literally have nothing else to live off of.

I just don't get it: why can't the Presiden, the Senate, and Congress forego their salaries for just one month to see how is to live like Joe Q Citizen? Rather than fly First Class they should fly Commercial, except for the jerk running this Country due to so much Security. But just once I'd love to have those in power see how it really is to live on a fixed income, struggle to pay for the necessities of life, etc. Simply put they just damned sure couldn't do it.

Who gave the government permission to use SOCIAL SECURITY ON OTHER PROGRAMS? We have paid into most of our lives, SOCIAL SECURITY was set up for that purposes and was not to be used for anything else. Now their saying we are running out of money and therefore our children will not have social security .

I know for a fact that if a person comes to the united state and are 65 they can collect social security and have not worked a day in the united state.I think that befor the government ask for a rate in creases in pay.The better look at reelection time.

I dear all government officials try living on $400 a month or even $1000 a month for one year.A NOT IN THEIR HOMES! GO OUT AND RENT A PLACE ON WHAT MOST REGULAR GET FROM SOCIAL SECURITY AND PAY UTILITIE, FOOD, MEDICATION, GAS,INSURANCE, ECT.

When you get cost of living increase you will lose other benefits.

If you receive food stamps you will lose most of your food stamps.I know this is a fact. I have worked with seniors for 25 years. and i have had seniors come to and said theywere only getting $10 in food stamps, I checked this with Seniors and Disabled,So it is lose. I really think things need to change in the food stamp program

Everyone wants to know why people are golng hungry.

their was no increase in social security, but my rent went up 59.00 dollars

my food stamps were cut in half, but the united states can send other

countries billions of dollars.why is that?????????

As increases in taxes and utilities how can we survive with no raises on our social security check. My rents being raised along with nicor gas riases and water . How does our government expect us to live? This governemnt of ours is greedy, all politicians think of themselves and not for the people. I hope that we get our raises 2011. If I was not disabled I would denfinately be working 2 jobs. all my life since i was 13 I worked. Our government needs to help this country and stop worrying about other countries poverty and send money over to them. take care of us first. We the people of this country needs to come together and start fighting our govenrnent. We put them in office we can take them out of office. With the 6 billion dollars why didn't ssi get some of that emergency money to help us? What is Obama thinking? Seniors made this country and worked hard and we deserve to get paid back.

Our government cares only for it self and it's concerns and thier paychecks. We are nothing but a head ache. They don't have to worry about enough money or good health care..They worry about all the illegals they allow to be here to take the jobs and they all get all the benefits they can pocket..AND WE MIGHT GET A LOUSY 250.00 NEXT YEAR..every other country is supported to the max if need be by the government of the USA but yet we offend everyone and no one is happy here but the true Americans ...So they should kick more than half back to thier own countries and then the Usa might be our own again..this is the worst government since the 70s...But I didn't vote them in and I'm not voting them in again come election time so remember we seniors still vote..We need our own language back and our rightful federal laws enforced..but our government breaks them everyday..But one day they all will have to answer for it....There is a higher power they just don't know it....

I have sat here and read the comments posted and to be frank, it is truly discusting to read how the retired people are being treated. Some of them veterans, some factory workers, some fathers, mothers who gave their all for this country. Now we sit back and we are losing our homes and having to depend on our kids to care for us. It's frightening and frustrating for the elderly who have given the best years of their lives only to see their homes and savings disappear. We watch while Washington decides what country to help next or when to vote themselves a raise. We watch as young families struggle only to see a reflection of our struggles when we were young. At least we worked at American factories and drove American cars and wore clothing "made in America" and we had a chance at the American dream. Not anymore my friends, we have lost that important part of us, and as we lost that part, the America that we once knew...lost us. Is anyone listening, does anyone care for us seniors!!

Cindy of PA 6:20PM March 28, 2010

Hey, don't you all know by now we seniors do not count any longer. We have given our selves all the years we worked up to the point we retire .. when we retire we become un important and then the government has to pay us a retirement regardless if we paid into social security or notand regardless if it is ours or not. They do not care about us, get it, they proved that when they cancelled our COLA for the next 2 years and more then likely will cancel it after that or maybe give us a cola that will not help much at all .... I am beginning to believe that this new world order thing is beginning to take shape and this is the first step like all the other crazy decisions our governement has made over the past several years ... Beware people ..... changes are coming that will eliminate us all together and only those who the new world order leader decide worthy of living will remain alive .... that is at least until the new world order leaders decide their time is up and they are no longer needed .......
