If your retirement plans are being destroyed, remember that the politicians were behind this economic mess. They are the ones that mandated Freddy Mac and Fanny Mae to make loans to unqualified borrowers so home ownership could increase.

If you are unhappy about this, remember when you vote.

My wife and I are in our late 60s early 70s and we still work our butts off. We took a big hit from this economy and lost significantly in our businesses, stock investments, and real estate investments. I work an average 12 hours + each day in an attempt to keep my business going.

It is time to FIRE our representatives and hire new people who understand the public's interest.

I'm one of the many Boomers who will be pushing back retirement for financial reasons. I'm hoping to work at least until I'm 70. Fortunately I think staying involved in my career will be good for my mental health and forestall brain aging. Thanks for a good review of the stats on this growing phenomenon.
