I agree that there is is real value in working with a financial planner to prepare for and define your retirement wishes. Equally important is working with a professional to help with a strategy to spend your savings once you retire. Advisers can provide careful guidance as to what to sell, when to sell it and at what rate to assure you do not outlive your savings. A regular meeting will give you the opportunity to make adjustments should something unexpected occur in the economy. I know that is not very likely, but just in case...
