3 Proposals That Cut Social Security Payments

Fair? When all ELIGIBLE retirees receive an amount equal of what they paid in individually adjusted in accordance with their retirement age. Not blanket coverage with several variables now being paid, such as Congressmen, other gov't employees and undocumented workers. Congress should make no law that doesn't apply to all or setup special benefits or incentives for themselves in any form. There should be no exceptional Social Security retirement benefits for politicians or gov't employees at any level of gov't. Consider the large number of gov't employees (51 percent),and this number is substantial.

Other forms of retirement like federal, railroad, military, and gov't aid such as SSI, and disability pay should not be a part

of or related to Social Security. The give-a-way programs that

continue to creep in are large contributors to the problem.

If you reduce the add-ons that the Government gives themselves then you wouldn't have to steal from the people who have already spent their lives paying into Social Security. Does anyone in Congress have any morals?

If the government reduces payments in any way , shape or form.............................Lets have a vote in the 2012 election to take away all FREE Social Security/ Medicare Benefits from every politician in this country. Lets squeeze them and make them pay for something we legitimately earned and now wants to reduce or take away.

This is ludicrous, take away from 52 million people and growing and spend it on the war in Afghanistan, Iraq, and having dead bodies coming home to their families.

This government is SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you touch Social Security...............I can see a civil war in this country in a hurry..........................Just screwing the older people is NOT THE ANSWER. GIVE MORE TO US........OUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED..........LET US ENJOY THE REST OF OUR LIVE..........AND FOR THOSE THAT ARE PUSHING FOR PRIVATIZATION...................PLEASE GO SEE A PSYCHIATRIST AND YOU PAY FOR THE BILL............................GET REAL!

The sad thing is that no matter what the path chosen, retired folks will end up getting less than what they expected. In difficult financial times, planning to survive retirement can be a game of inches. If I planned early on for my Social Security benefits to be at a certain amount and now as I cross the finish line those numbers are less than I calculated, I may be in trouble. I understand that the money is just not there and we have to do something. It is a shame that those who need the benefits most are the ones who will have to make the sacrifices at a time when their earning potential is severely limited.
