Social Security Payback Option Eliminated

This, by far, has been a crime against the people. It has scam written allover it. This was apparently created to assist the friends of the rich statesmen on office along with their friends. How about mandating that all the interest that would of been paid allocated to them now as a punishment for taking advantage of the people. This has fraud in it somewhere, but if the country writes a bill removing our Constitutional rights, as Bush did, then it is OK , since it only affects the poor in a negative manner.

This article only illustrates the way our government works. If you are AFFLUENT, you can take advantage of the loop holes, if you are part of the non-working class (those that from one generation to another who live and thrive on public assistance, food stamps, housing, etc. and get "education" grants and loans then never go to school) then this government provides for you. But if you are part of the group that goes to work everyday (some of them are even minimum pay jobs) and honestly tries to pay your bills and give your family some type of quality life, then you are not given the funds opportunities that those who know how to milk the system are. Instead, your taxes are raised, your Social Security cost of living is cancelled, and, especially now, you are finding it hard to survive from one paycheck to another. Health care, which is part of public assistance to some, is not available to you because you don't have insurance because you can't afford it and you don't have the money to pay upfront for it. Our senior citiizens on Social Security are seeing their Medicare benefits cut almost monthly, with no end in sight. This group is often going without needed medications, cutting off their utilities, and eating like scavengers. What does the working class do? The way it is now we are being pushed harder and harder down an endless path with no relief in sight.

I have to agree with Tom. I think we should have been given prior notice before this rule took effect so if we wanted that option, we could use it. It doesn't impact me, but I have friends who should know so I have sent out the word. Fortunately, some of them are in the 1st year window, so they may want to opt out.

This is a poor way to treat retirees.

I find it interesting that I recently tried to file for the payback option, only to have the response be I was to pay back MORE than I had received and the instructions on how to do the paying back were confused and incomplete (they referred to a payment coupon I hadn't been given). Coupled with the fact that the letter they sent was dated on a Sunday (since when does a government office work on Sunday) and I have to conclude there was a deliberate plan to stall things until this new rule took effect.
