In managing a large 401k plan I found an large gap knowledge of the 401k plan. Starting with many managers who did not have a working knowledge of compound interest, to HR managers who could not explain the most basic aspects of the plan it's no wonder employees are not signing up and when they do it's at less than the full company match. They leave money on the table.

Some of the problems are the lawyers and government telling you what and what you cannot say. Education is the key, if the after 50 employee has a robust career plan, they study all aspects of their finanical situation. For more on career planning go to http://careersafter50.com
