I think the work force needs to really look at what a seasoned employee has to offer , to one be a good mentor,to be a sort of semi watch and to bring diverse skills and knowledge as well as ethics to the employer/company!.as the reliablity, flexablity, and contacts, and work style. Remember it takes a whole to make a sum lol lol !!

I am tired of the assumption that older workers are not up to date on computer skills. I will turn 60 on Monday, have been unemployed for almost 2 years. I tested software for 14 years - also some hardware - such as Wireless Telecommunication Services we are all using now, and VoIP (which I never thought would make it) and I am using at home avery day! So my technical skills are many - they may not be up to date but I pick up fast. Since I do not have an Engineering Degree but because of my abilities I was quickly promoted to a Member of the Technical Team when hired to record notes (in my 40's). But I am a realist, I know I can not get back in a tech job now - all I am looking for is a clerical position, but I really think the tech positions are hurting me know. I do downplay them in my cover letters.
