Sasha And Malia Dolls No More; Ty Inc. Bows To Michelle Obama

February 4, 2009 RSS Feed Print

Update on my earlier post: Ty Inc has "retired" the Marvelous Malia and Sweet Sasha doll names that absolutely had nothing to do with the First Family, according to company spokespeople.

The maker of Beanie Babies will be renaming those dolls "Marvelous Mariah" and "Sweet Sydney" a few days after Michelle Obama issued a statement calling the dolls inappropriate.

Most of the people cashing in on the Obama inauguration won't get the same comeuppance, however, simply because their kitschy merchandise won't be as widely advertised.

Risky Business

Matt Bandyk, a reporter for U.S. News, explores capitalism from where it all begins, with the entrepreneur, whose risk taking and experimentation provide the roots from which the rest of the economy grows. As much courage as it takes to create one's own business, even the entrepreneur needs some help, and this blog will look at news, trends, and practical advice for starting and running a small business.
