Don't Like The Stimulus? Give Mark Cuban A Call

February 10, 2009 RSS Feed Print

It's common among opponents of Obama's stimulus plan to argue that we should let the private sector get us out of this recession, not the public sector. To those who think new business can be started and thrive even in today's economy, Mark Cuban says, "Show me the money!" (For a previous discussion this blog had with Mark Cuban, click here.)

Cuban posted on his personal blog last night an "open source funding" challenge:

I will invest money in businesses presented here on this blog. No minimum, no maximum, but a very specific set of rules. Here they are:

1. It can be an existing business or a start up.
2. It can not be a business that generates any revenue from advertising. Why ? Because I want this to be a business where you sell something and get paid for it. Thats the only way to get and stay profitable in such a short period of time.
3. It MUST BE CASH FLOW BREAK EVEN within 60 days
4. It must be profitable within 90 days.
5. Funding will be on a monthly basis. If you dont make your numbers, the funding stops
6. You must demonstrate as part of your plan that you sell your product or service for more than what it costs you to produce, fully encumbered
7. Everyone must work. The organization is completely flat. There are no employees reporting to managers. There is the founder/owners and everyone else
8.  You must post your business plan here, or you can post it on slideshare.com , scribd.com or google docs, all completely public for anyone to see and/or download
9. I make no promises that if your business is profitable, that I will invest more money. Once you get the initial funding you are on your own
10. I will make no promises that I will be available to offer help. If I want to , I will. If not, I wont.
11. If you do get money, it goes into a bank that I specify, and I have the ability to watch the funds flow and the opportunity to require that I cosign any outflows.
12. In your business plan , make sure to specify how much equity I will receive or how I will get a return on my money.

To have a shot, you need to post your plan publicly, either in the comments section of the blog, or with a link to a Google document.

I am not sure how this home credit works but I hope to god its not just for someone that buys a home now and not 6 months ago. Why does the Government play God and choose who gets the help, if you make Under $100k and you bought a house and are struggling why would i not get this credit!

Flip Flop Productions seeks to create an active worldwide circuit of independent entertainment groups .We will start with reaching out the trendy and eccentric live music capitol of the world, Austin, Texas. We will book engagements at various venues like The Elephant Room; hosting open mic event, readings with music, master classes, concerts and much more. As we generate proper funds for travel our visibility and fan base will begin to grow. We will distribute products worldwide. The Million Musician March is our largest long term goal. This event has begun to spark interest from entertainers, promoters and others just based upon its great name. We would like to present this event in Texas in the near future. The idea of Flip Flop has been around since 1997. Since then we have learned many things concerning the art of recording live music. The South Dallas Cultural Center was one of the first places that Jason Davis began to host live recordings. Sound Engineer, Uriah Ellion Jr. began to introduce the recording process to him. Those recordings eventually turned into the first release from Flip Flop Records entitled "HUSIC is HUSIC". This work featured many different styles of music both jazz and classical. The next recording took place at a new studio and featured a band called Page 43.

The advantage that we have as a production company is that we are simply supplying strong messages in a time and age that needs an alternative to exploitative works. Our core group of producers and artist have all gained respect in the areas of theatre, music, education and community service. Our prices for our event and services are all very economical. Most of our event will give group rates. CDs will sell retail for $13.99. All Classes and performances will cost from $7 - $10. Tickets to formal events will start at $20. Studio time will cost $30 per hour for live recordings. Flip Flop Productions offer all music related services to non-label affiliates. Promotional items will be priced according to how much each item cost to manufacture. Below is an outline listing some of our products, services and events. Each of these sections comprise the general outline of Flip Flop Productions and its desire to expand into a complete industry within itself. We will sale acsess to meadi equiptment and also Begin our major money making idea called Jazznastics. It has the same setup as Basketball or any other major sport. But it is all about music and art.
