Maine's Topless Cafe Is Not First To Combine Sex And Coffee

March 4, 2009 RSS Feed Print

Here's an update on that topless cafe story that had everyone talking last week:

Via Wallet Pop, I see that the Grand View is not the first establishment to use sex to sell coffee. The Seattle Times reported in 2007 about a trend of drive-through espresso stores using scantily clad baristas to get customers. The same concept is at work with Sexxy Espresso, located in--where else?--Las Vegas.

Also, if you'd like to see what the infamous Maine cafe looks like, CNN has video.

So is this just a fad, or a sign of the collapse of Western civilization?

I really cannot believe that people would actually accept this. MUCH offense, it's crazy and unappropriate to walk around with out a shirt on just to have coffee. Really, do you want to get some starbucks and see a topless old woman walk out?? I definitley wouldn't! But, for us guys, it's fine. Like being on a beach or something. But I still hope that this won't become any more popular.

There already is a topless shop in Portland Maine. They were just following the lead.
