Internet Advertising Growing Faster Than TV Advertising, Historically

April 16, 2009 RSS Feed Print

Here's interesting news for anyone trying to make money off the Internet: Somebody compared the advertising revenue growth of the first 14 years of the Internet with the advertising revenue growth of the first 14 years of broadcast and cable TV.  The Internet leaves TV in the dust--see here.

But of course, revenue is diifferent than profitability. I'd like to see numbers about how much of this money is seen by individual firms or users who take in ad revenue. There's only a relative few TV stations or channels competing for that pot of ad dollars.  There are almost infinitely more websites.

Websites that depend on traffic to make money were one of US News's overrated small business ideas--simply because it's so hard for them to be profitable.  Will it start getting easier in the coming years?

As much courage as it takes to create one's own business, even the entrepreneur needs some help, and this blog will look at news, trends, and practical advice for starting and running a small business.
