FDA Lights Up "E-Cigarette" Ban Controversy

The can’t justify their actions if electronic nicotine devices are deemed illegal.

How are e-cigs positive?

1. Can help tobacco smokers avoid 1000‘s of dangerous and legal chemicals.

2. Can help tobacco smokers cut down and quit in some cases.

There are many ways to deliver nicotine that are legal today other then tobacco.

Chewing gum, patches and pills.

The REAL reason that people may support a law to make such a simple device illegal is simple... no more profit for the major tobacco tycoons.

The tobacco industry leaders are shoving millions at anyone who can change the minds of the general public about the benefits of the e-cig.

Think about it people and voice your opinion without being falsely led along the tobacco industry’s path.

I believed that electronic cigarettes are an excellent technology and the potential cost savings to our health care will prove to be tremendous, with this product you can enjoy ecigs anywhere with smokeless cigarettes just think no more standing in the cold or rain to take a smoke no more of the negative effects of tobacco based cigarettes such as stained teeth, smokers breath, that annoying cough, smelly clothing. http://www.ecigaretteit.com

It is a shame when the FDA,Gov, say that cigarettes are bad for you (which they are), so they tax the crap out of them to supposedly get you to quit, create so many laws about smoking in public, can't smoke here can't smoke there etc. second hand smoke blah blah blah.

So then the E cig comes along which is a safer alternative and now they want to ban them? Why? They are not hurting non smokers with second hand smoke.

So the conclusion and the only conclusion for the reason why they Gov/FDA is making such a big fuss about it is all about the almighty dollar and nothing else. You know the Gov/FDA and big Tobacco industry is all in this together at this point. They never really cared about anyones health to begin with its all about the money and this pretty much proves it.

Im getting my first e cig in the next week and I sure hope that I can quit smoking regular cigs, I like to smoke so a safer alternative option for me would be wonderful. I am looking forward to tying the e cig!

Why the fight to ban the safer alternative, instead of regular cigarettes?

Money.

e-cigs are not necessarily being marketed as a smoking cessation product; yet they certainly help. I quit smoking cigarettes 3 months ago, and feel I'm reaping the rewards. I don't smell, I don't experience tightness in my lungs, my teeth are white, and without the 4000+ chemicals and carcinogens, I feel my risks of premature aging are reduced. I run now, without hacking, and feel so much better!

I smoke because I enjoy it, when reading, when having a glass of wine or good conversation; I left a habit of almost 2 packs a day, at 26 years old. I'm so thankful for this product. I went from high nicotine (16 mg/cartridge) to low, and soon will be on the nicotine free cartridge. I save $150/mo, yet the product is not inexpensive, so I can't imagine a wealth of children being able to get their paws on it.

Big tobacco and the smoking cessation industry will certainly fight this tooth and nail, not to mention the government who benefits from tax dollars generated by cigarettes. They disapprove of tobacco, yet reap the benefits. A product that is an effective method for quitting, or a safer alternative, is bad news for them. Unless they can regulate it and stack taxes on it. Ridiculous.

I'm stockpiling now, as I won't do without this product. I imagine making it illegal will reduce the quality and safety of the product. I can't believe they'd remove this product, as I'm clearly better off for it, as are many, and I've yet to experience side effects, but can be certain it's better than if I kept smoking indefinitely.

And Chantix? Come on. It's hardly effective, and everyone I've known on it has fallen into complete depression and social withdrawal. Sounds lovely.

I don't smoke my e-cigarette in public, I don't want to create more animosity from the non-smokers who blindly attach the same stigma of tobacco products to the mere action of smoking. The fear/disapproval generated toward tobacco is being associated to electronic cigarettes as well, regardless of studies, simply due to the mere action of smoking.

New York, for all its high and mighty rhetoric about health dangers of smoking and of second hand smoke, is really just in a panic about the potential lost revenue from the outrageously high cigarette taxes. Let's face it; if Big Pharma (say, Pfizer) and not a handful of smaller companies had come up with ecigarettes, this product would not have the problems it is facing now. Of course, they would be much more expensive but, hey, the financial problems of the average person trying to get by have never been of much concern to this state. The pressure is on the legislators from Big Tobacco and Big Pharma. As to Assemblywoman Rosenthal's "if I can quit without them, anybody can" attitude; sorry we don't all have your iron will and sterling character, Assemblywoman! As a 30+ year smoker, this product is helping me quit and I am appalled at the idea that this bill would pass. If you want to regulate them, then force the FDA to get on the ball, but don't take this ray of hope away. I have tried gum, lozenges, hypnosis, cold turkey, patches, drugs; you name it, and this is the first product that really seems to be working for me.

If the FDA wants to ban E-cig and E-liquid they will have to ban sugar, extracts, and other food products. They will also need to remove nicotine gum and other nicotine products from the market. The only ingredient in a e liquid is a sugar used in soda and other drinks including 99% of the juices on the shelfs, natural extract flavorings used to bake and vegetable glycerin mixed half and half with purified water. If people chose to add nicotine they can. But e-juice and e-liquids that go into e-cigarettes do not require nicotine. I am not sure why the FDA is wanting to ban e-cig and e-liquid.

You all are off your rocker. People are trying to quit smoking. E- Cigs are helping. Plus there is no odor or smoke for all of the non smokers to deal with. Whats your problem? I dont smoke so I am not speaking for myself, other than the oder and not dealing with the smoke. I dont have to worry about second hand smoke. Really whats the deal with trying to ban it? Kids will smoke no matter what. Not because of the flavor. Thats just stupid. If it has no nicotine then who cares? REALLY? All of this is because Tobacco Comp are afraid to loose money.. What about the lawsuit's from second hand smoke? Really I dont get it.. How many people are tired of the smell of cigarettes? And yellow walls? Comeone people. What is the real problem here?

Electronic cigarettes are the best way to quit smoking and alternative smoking cessation for tobacco smokers.
