I participate in a retirement state government plan. My husband is on medicare and I am not old enough to be on medicare. I just received notice my health insurance is going up to $1250.00 per month. We have a drug benefit that after $500 family is paid we no are required to pay for drugs after that time for a year. We take so many drugs I can not see away of not paying for this policy. Where can I find comparison of plans with drug plans do not want to fall into the doughnut hole

Has anyone else had this problem -- over 6,000 in Northern Minnesota ran into this in September when the St Mary's Duluth Clinic sent out notices of what plans they would accept and which ones they would not. Some negotiations are going on to reconsider some plans. But not many. Mine is my retirement plan from Michigan through Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan, and pays for all they say the Med Adv plans are not. If I pick up another plan, as they recommend, I lose my other pension benefit packages. Negotiations are going on for the last 3 weeks. The government is worrying about people who have no insurance, what about us who do and are going to be refused in January, 2009. Sounds like a no brainer--get another doctor! But, the clinic has the 60 mile radius(+) saturated with their clinics, and in the rural areas of Northern Minnesota, there are a very limited number (1 or 2) private practice physicians, that are not attached to the clinic's billing.

I would bet many of these plans raised their premiums to avoid being eligible for low income patients. That said, in the country up until Julyish, we had a high inflation rate of close to 5% which is a factor. Be diligent in your search as there are many other plans which still have the low premium and co-pays, they just dont have the name recognition of a humana or aarp.

We live in California and use Humana Part D. The big story is the increase in the amount of the copay.The preferred generic is going from $4 to $7, preferred brand name drug from $25 to $40.
We really hesitated before signing up. However, we had been ordering from Canada and some drug orders were being intercepted, not delivered in our area. We did wonder why free trade was so great for everything BUT medications COMING to the US.
We need health care and drug benefits for everyone. Research should be funded through Universities. No part of health care should be for profit. We need to get the bean counters out of health care and the health care professionals in charge again.

As usual we the people are being shafted again and again. Don't know how much more shafting can be done before we can't afford day to day living. The drug companies, and every industry have milked us dry. Am losing confidence in what we all held dear, seems those days are gone forever. Power and money is the name of the game, strange, wonder where this is going to lead? When the cow runs dry, no one can drink?

the only way for this mess to be changed is for everyone, that includes execs, high money making people to pay for meds and docs like we do. i am disabaled, limited income. my asthma meds went up one of them double in one month. they should last a month, i make them last way over that. there is no compassion in this country anymore. it is a sin to mention the word charity. my consolation, this is a temporal world. i will suffer here, but if i stay on the narrow path, he made me a promise. so i do my best to have faith. i feel for those in worse shape than myself and pray for them. i keep repeating, this is a temporary existence.

Sad to see how MANY people rely on a govt handout for medical care instead of saving for retirement and unforeseen medical problems.
