I'd like to make a comment about my observations of the "shenanigans" going on in Washington over the President's "Stimulus/Buy-out" package.

My comment: Stop all of the political power playing rhetoric and get something done for the people.

Obama should remove all benefits, reduce and freeze wages of these "law makers" who can't seem to get it through their thick egos that the people of the United States are hurting for some relief of their economic hardship situations. I believe they need to get priorities right - first put aside everything but the simple essentials of getting cash flowing again in the hands of the responsible tax paying American citizens (currently in good standing - not like those 3 that were proposed cabinet members who were not).

My proposal is to make the money available to the people. Not $600, $1000 or $1200, those are measly amounts and won't stimulate anything or anyone to have confidence in the gov't. The U.S. population is about 304,000,000 citizens. Especially when the law marketeers/pirateers are playing with multi billion dollar figures and going to go into the hands of the same people who caused all of the problems? Come on, get your head on straight and really look at what's happening, they couldn't have a clue.

Give each U.S. citizen a million dollars and watch the spending increases, demand for products increase, cause more jobs to be available, home foreclosures will be taken care of by the people with this money who have that problem. Of course there must be workable parameters; no one can quit their jobs, those who can work will get one of the jobs made available. All recipients of the million $ will be required to clear all of their financial obligations including child and spousal support. After clearing all financial debt obligations the people will improve the economy by purchasing new homes, cars, furniture and other goods. That's STIMULUS. Not some tax cut for the middle and lower income - people need money NOW in their pockets and bank accounts. The gov't should give it to the people and at the same time get the bad laws/"business as usual" mentality and business tactics revamped to avoid the rape and pillaging of our economy for evermore!!! Thanks for letting me sound off.

I am the grandmother in this household with my daughter, her 2 sons, her fiance and now she is pregnant. We handle things simply: Whatever is needed food wise, she or I will buy it. We have recently adopted the attitude that we will use as many coupons as we can and we cut them out of the newspapers, magazines and get some on-line. She and her fiance have spoken to her 2 boys about the recession and what their part will be to help the family save money (and energy). Of course, lights must be turned out, thermostat at 68 degrees, doors closed and water consumption is monitored.

All expenses are shared, gas, electricity, water, housing and telephone. Our only luxury is cable TV and Internet access.

We are eating more leftovers than we usually do and have cut down on eating out.

Her fiance is responsible for all house repairs and outside work. He will fertilize, cut grass and trim bushes. We no longer have a fertilizer or lawn service.

We are still conscious of other peoples troubles, lay offs and our country's efforts to pull ourselves up from this terrible monetary crisis. All three adults have jobs in healthcare and we are still working.

We weathered the gas crisis and became much more conscious of gas consumption.

We consider ourselves lucky that we have each other to rely on, if one of us can't do it, the other one will. Anything that is "not necessary" will wait until times are better.

We have faith in our new President and will follow his advice: we are glad that a change was made and feel this new President will lead us to a better life.
