Thirty year ago the federal government told us that dropping the speed limit from 60 to 55 would "Save fuel and lives". After they had done that they bragged about how many lives were saved.

Now we have upped the speed limit to 70++. Are we to believe that they want to burn more fuel or are they just trying to kill off a bunch of drivers?

Why Stop at the magic number 55. Where did that # come from. I see more 16 through 25 year drive worse then some 55 year olds. Iam 57 hade only 1 reck and that was when I was 22 yrs old.

I feel everyone should be given driving skills test every 5 years after the age of 55. This should be required of every driver regardless of their ability or health. This should entail a written test of knowledge and then an actual driving test, to show that each driver can handle the basics of driving. The written test should consist of basic knowledge and all drivers after the age of 55 should have an eye test to see if they can read the street signs. The written test should also have some basic knowledge questions as what to do in a construction area, how to leave room for law enforcement officers and other things on the side of the road that may be partially blocking the traffic lanes.
