Have you thought of virtual assistants. You can build a team with virtual assistants, there are websites: Elancer, Odesk, etc.

I am a un employed construction worker,in the field of decore ...lately. I had a great job with a company in california that did some merchandising but mostly new stores Walgreens ,D D s & Ross Dress for less ,and rebranding like Eckerds to cvs or eckerds to rite aid. I also can not find work and want to explore moving up , dont you think that some one that has the hands on experience with construction is the answer to these and other needs of this company. The only example i will give is that as a construction suprentendent we play a game called "find the mistake on the print" and have not found one without. That person gets lunch on me. Small things from old folk(52) like me get it done.

It's hard for someone that's 40+ to compete with someone these days just out of college. It seems like companies don't really value what can only be taught through experience as much as they should.

I encourage anyone who finds themselves in this situation to look into buying a business. Buying a mature profitable business gives you cash flow from day #1. Instead of slogging around out there from job interview to job interview competing with these youngsters that you are obviously more qualified then, be your own boss. Put those years of experience to work by taking control of a business in your particular niche. If you can get the necessary capital together, it's the obvious way to go.

Anyone interested in the buying of a business should check out http://www.businessbuyeradvocate.com/ . It is a great blog full of must have knowledge for anyone thinking about taking the plunge. It’s frequented by quite a few experts in various aspects of the field that can help you with any questions you might have or perspective you might need.

Buying a business very well could be the most important decision you ever make in your life. You have to make sure you buy the right business the right way.

I own my own design practice based overseas - we design hotels- so our greatest overhead is personnel, the economic downturn has affected our business, just as it has most everyone else I know. As such, we needed to find solutions that would improve our productivity but keep salaries down. Hiring younger staff may keep costs lower, but the fresh grads don't have sufficient experience to solve, manage, oversee technical problems as quickly or with such accuracy as more experienced personnel, thus; productivity goes down, as more time is spent checking for errors or omissions followed by redo work. An experienced technical manager can peruse working drawing check sets and immediately identify those errors and omissions. We have a production office set up near Hong Kong in Guangzhou, but the autocad kids thereneed an experienced supervisor to guide/teach/check their work. Hiring an expat who is over 60 sets work permit challenges, but we can get one if they are engaged as instructors for a time period of 1 year. Where do we recruit specifically a retired technical manager such as this?
