A maine coon cat male is a formidable foe - with claws long enough to send any intruder away in an ambulance.... if you're not a dog person, think of getting a cat instead.

Why do you not mention cats?

My schnauzer, Maggie was 100% Dog. She was very outgoing and fit my outgoing nature. She was walked and fed and doctored all her 14 years of life. She let me know if someone was at the door or on the lawn. As an inside residentShe played, and snuggled in equal amounts. She was totally devoted to me and I her. She could sense my moods and acted like a sympathetic friend.

NEVER, NEVER buy a dog or cat from a Pet Store! The parents are commercially farmed, over bred, under-fed, never socialized, have never set foot on the ground, and seriously abused in order to produce the most offspring for the least expense in the shortest time frame possible, or sale to the wholesalers, primarily the HUNTE corporation, or distribution to pet stores! Contact the local shelters, or www.Petfinders.com, or for a specific breed, go to the breed site...every breed has a rescue arm. NO PET STORES! That is why there is an overload o chihuahas being moved from shelters in CA to the east coast right now. Hollywood "celebrities" having made them overly popular, so every puppy mill has been over producing them. Get some sense! Leolover in NY

Even when it's not possible or practical to go outside to walk or run ... dogs like humans can learn to enjoy a dog treadmill or tread wheel. Great options are offered at PetRun http://www.petrun.com.tw/pet-e/ for treadmills and at GoPet http://gopetusa.com/videos/CS3612/cs3612.html website www.gopetusa.com.
