8 Possible Social Security Benefit Changes

I paid into my Social Security for 40+ years and am now disabled. I have no problem or guilt with collecting my benefit 6 years early. I do harbor a resentment toward the many who are being supported without ever having contributed. Where did this attitude of entitlement spring from?

The government misused the Social Security system for many years by taking money from the fund and transferring it to another area. Now, in addition to more baby boomers retiring than individuals putting into the system, the system needs to be revamped. The money NEVER should have been allowed to be removed from Social Security regardless of the situation. Government set up this program to fail when they took the money and used it elsewhere, but did not put it back into the Social Security system. All changes made to the system NEED TO BE VOTED ON AS "WE THE PEOPLE". The government can not set up a program, misues it and then make the citizens who counted on that money for retirement, disability, etc. to suffer for their mistaks or their previous constituents mistakes. STOP THE NON-SENSE and look after American citizens or we will have so many homeless and poverty level people we as a society won't be able to overcome it. Everyone in government has a special umbrella over them due to serving the public and don't have to suffer as the everyday Americans, they lose empathy and understanding for how others are affected. Revamp the 2012 budget and come up with a fix that does not including reducing Social Security for anyone. The amount given to live on is not significant, yet better than nothing. Don't make the lives of us who have contributed and done our part suffer for the mistakes of the government.

No cost of living increase in benefits during the past couple of years equates to tremendous cost savings in coming years. I haven't seen any figures on the amount of savings, but a year without cost of living adjustment is projected into the future for each beneficary, like some kind of negative compound interest. Failure to increase benefits based on some cobbled up government formula is in reality a cruel tax on the elderly.

SEEMS THE AMOUNT OF MONEY THAT IS TAKING OUT OF MY CHECKED EACH WEEK IN 2011 HAS DECRESED. MCARE STAYED THE SAME. HOW CAN I FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THIS CHANGE

The people who make the desicions about social security do not take into considerations: Government, by, for and of the people. Anything to do with changes, or borrowing from social security should be on the ballot. All government workers should be required to be on Social Security Retirement. Then, ask them how much they can save in addition to what is taken out of their paychecks for their retirement.

Our government is quite capable of fixing Social Security and any other problem facing the country. Unfortunately, they have no vested interest in the retirement system and they lack the intestinal fortitude to fix this or any other problem facing our country. For decades we have continued to elect the same party, the republicrats, expecting that things will somehow change. We don't want to elect someone different because they lack the "experience" for the job. So, who's to blame for this situation ?

As a wise man once said "The quickest and easiest way to fix social security is to put the elected officials in Washington in the program removing their current entitlement.....a solution would be quickly found!"

Social security will never be fixed until it is taken off the budget. It has already been fixed a number of times and after the legislators spend all of the money , they borrow more and continue to increase our national debt .

I have been very upset with our so called Government and all the Politicians in this Country for a very very long time. When I was a child it was a much easier way of life because the people who ran our Country then believed in our Constitutional rights and were fair and caring people. Now as I vote for these so called Politicians I stand and wonder which one I should vote for because I'm not sure which one is less corrupt than the other. Whatever the out come is you can be sure of one thing we will be screwed to the wall one way or the other. Our Government does not care about the Declaration of Independence~~We the people, by the people and for the people. I am very sure Our Fore Fathers are rolling over in their graves because of the fact the people who run this country have literally thrown out everything this country every stood for since the beginning when they fought for our Freedom on our own soil. May God Bless America because we need him to fight for us as some of us fight to keep God and Country together. Just for the record I was forced to go on disability which has now turned into SSI and if it weren't for friends and family who are struggling themselves I probably would stare to death and so far in this process I lost 40 lbs. May God Bless this Country because no one else will.
