Why are non citizens collecting ssi, ssdi? This is suppose to be for the working people after putting into the system for 30 yrs.Not for johnny come lately!

No wonder it's running out! They need to be more thorough in giving out our hard earned money. If you haven't put in they should not collect, unless it's the partner/wife or husband ,or child of a working parent.

I f a parent hasn't worked how is it the kids are collecting???

What's wrong with this picture!

They broadened the definition of what "disability" was - so that now a child with ADD qualifies for lifetime benefits. Who was insane enough to open that trap door? They also added dependent benefits for anybody who retires so that grandparents can claim grandchildren as dependents and collect more than their irresponsible parents earn. We KNOW people who have two daughters in college with full SS dependent benefits while the father claims to be retired and hides income. Who is the nut who came up with that idea? It used to be that only when the father DIED were benefits payable - now it is simply a game to retire at 62 and let SS contribute to your children's college funds.

Stop giving away money to every foreign immigrant who claims disability as it is all these "leaks" that are draining away the retirement benefits for those who actually paid into the system. If everybody who was collecting disability for fake diagnosis like bi-polar to hide alcoholism or addictions were to glow, we could save on street lights. It is the patchwork of give-aways that is draining the system, NOT the retirees. Somebody is not watching the store for those of us who did pay and now are being pushed off the stage to hand out benefits like so much candy.

There are many of us that are about to start taking social security at the rate of one-third to one-half of our needed income for retirement, the prospects of expanding the coverage to a number of others that presently do not qualify is rather amazing. Having said that, I can see that it can happen. In today's world, anything can happen.

Some of us may have to supplement our income with other sources during retirement, especially with some of the uncertainties of social security. If anyone is interested in learning more, see http://www.enjoy-retirement-jobs.com for more information.

Enjoy your life.

I thought Social Security was broke. All these ideas look like they cost money.
