Americans Still Dreamers -- About Retirement

I see that even in the late 50', most of us are stil young yet compare to the people in the 70', and yet I see more and more people in the 90' and still going strong. It's till not too late to find ways to supplement our future retirement income, and build out net eggs the right way. No way we can depend on the government to take care of us with messing up our "sick" Social Security as well as Health Care.

We should be able to look for a a solution that can provide us the Growth potential, plus the Safety as insurance for our hard saving/investment. Not only that, we also need all the Tax-Advantages on our earning to deal with the predictable increasing in the future Taxes.

It's time for us, Baby Boomers, to take charge our our own future. The "people" in the Finance Industry has proved their incompetentness through the last two enonomy crisises, one in the end of 2002, and another in the end of 2008. We shouldn't trust their ability any longer, since they're all driven by greed, commission, fee, and speculations, and especially, they lost big time during those crisises too. They couldn't even save themselves, how can they help people like us from losing???

Just a thought!

This country's standard of living is falling fast and has been falling for a number of years. The cold hard reality is that millions upon millions of Americans will be made to live in poverty suffering until they die. Getting old is not something you want to do in America anymore. These are the true realities for the majority of people living in American today. As many are finding out - The American dream is dead.

How do you expect us to save? The cost of daily living goes up up up yet our

salaries do not go up. Basic food items eggs, milk, juice, and yes even clothes

for our families are out of control. And lets not forget gas, heating and the most

out of control RENT. I would love to say I have a nest egg for my retirement but the truth is that after working all my life.. I do not have money saved. And yes I am 53 years old and worry that I am going to have to go on food lines to supplement my budget when I retire. We joke about this my girlfriends and I. Because being single mothers and grandmothers helping our children raise their children because of the salaries they earn - Our kids can't even afford to pay rent. So What the hell do you suggest?

A main reason many people are not "doing more" to get ready for retirement, is because they can't. Stocks unreliable as investments (due to traders) , houses going down in value, interest rates on your CDs now near nothing, health care costs poised to eat every spare saved dollar, many boomers caring for aged parents, and plenty of middle-aged layoffs-----these are the cumbersome realities for many people, perhaps most people.
