At the age of 50, I decided to go back to school. I first started out studying to be either a medical coder or medical transcriptionist. Since I had quite a few years into my career at my present employer, I decided to switch my major and instead take something that would help me on my present job. Through the years, and after struggling with a full-time job, a daughter going into her teens, husband, house, etc. while trying to meet assignment deadlines and studying has been challenging. It has taken quite a while, but I am almost done. The worse for me has been the algebra requirements. I should have started with those courses first, nonetheless, I am almost there. I have truly enjoyed going to college, something that I always wanted to do. When I graduated from high school over 40 years ago, a good-paying job was pretty easy to get. Now it is better to have an edge as my company has mostly college-educated professionals. I love learning and my continue on learning as long as I can.
