I gave my mom an iPad for mother's day and at 72, she said it is the best gift I've given her. It is sensational and she says using it is easy breezy.

I really appreciated the senior use of the iPad article. However, my husband and I have iphones already. We live in an area that does not have att land line internet. So we use our iphones and have had Windows PC's that use an air card. We are not in a 3g area so the air card is slow. However, in rural areas you can have occasional power outages and then it is nice not to lose your internet. I did not want to pay more for internet usage, so I have purchased a Macbook Pro, 13 inch laptop. I like the keyboard and the bigger screen. I call it my iPad with a keyboard. It uses the ATT air card(which is also used with the Windows laptop we still have). The new Macbook laptop is so fast that the slower internet is less of a pain. The iPad is a great choice for those who have more access to Wifi(not true in our rural location). Phillip has made a great choice with his iPad for his situation. I feel the same about the Macbook Pro. Both are apple products which are just generally easier to use than Windows.

I am impressed with the directness and simplicity with which this writer shares his? view of iPad and its potential use with Seniors. I work in long term care, with a resident community who are active and vibrant, very intellectually stimulating and stimulated. Based on this article I will look at the iPad again, more closely, for possible recommendation to our activities folks or our Socrates Cafe, run by our residents.

Thanks for sharing.

I'm curious to know how many seniors are using iPads. Share your stories and pictures or just register support. What apps do you use most often? What apps would you like to see?
