Obama's 6 Social Security Principles

Social security is taken from employees and employers every quarter. The goverment uses these funds without our consent for years and NOW are changing the rules for calculating our benefits different then how we were told they would be calculated when we paid into the system. Humm the baby boomer is near retirement age and all of sudden the way of calculating the amount to pay us has been change to reflect a tremendous reduction in our monthly benefit amounts. To threaten not paying SSA benefits to balance the budget is crazy. We paid our dues now the government must pay us the amount we were told we would be earning and not the amount their new formula allows us. Also stop giving away 58 BILLION dollars to educate those in foreign countries after all for many of years we had student loans to pay back for our education so should they. SSA benefit package with medicare does NOT amount to 70% of federal budget so STOP lying to the Voters. Time for the PEOPLE to run our government again.

Sorry but this part of the statement

"The Social Act was created with a stipulation that it cannot be borrowed from or used for other purposes. You, in the government constantly change amendments, laws and rules to suite your own pockets and purpose with the benefit of the public interest or input. "

Should have been "The Social Security Act was created with a stipulation that it cannot be borrowed from or used for other purposes. You, in the government constantly change amendments, laws and rules to suite your own pockets and purpose WITH OUT the benefit of the public interest or input. "

I get very riled up when some one talks about this fiasco.

Putting medicare and social security into the same category as medicaid is a joke. The legal working class has contributed to the funds their whole working career and it's about time the government realized that it is (without our consent by the way) playing with our money. Every government official (from Pres. Johnson on up) has been dipping into our funds without our consent. There are numerous laws for crimes against the elderly that are considered federal offenses and the perpetrators are subject to fines, restitution and jail time.

These government officials that have been borrowing our money without our consent need to be made to do a restitution. Either from their estates if not living, or from their own pocket. I don't care, sell your house and your assets and live like the rest of the American working class.

The Social Act was created with a stipulation that it cannot be borrowed from or used for other purposes. You, in the government constantly change amendments, laws and rules to suite your own pockets and purpose with the benefit of the public interest or input.

With today's technology it should be made that every registered voter receive a tv type of controller to vote from home or wherever they are. This would put a big change in the way you guys pad your own pockets.

Concerning all of you stating that our representatives do not pay into social security: Any of them that became employed as such after 1983 are paying into social security at the same rate as every other American. They also pay into medicare as all working LEGAL Americans do. Only those representatives employed prior to 1984 do not pay into social security and do not receive social security benefits except in the very rare cases where they had also worked for 10 years or more in the private corporate world, BUT the benefits even in those rare cases are significantly reduced by 60 percent. Also remember that those employed as representatives prior to 1984 paid into their own pension plan at a rate of 7 percent plus they also paid into medicare.

Just wanted to get the record straight.

Legislators should be on Social Security and Medicare Insurance like the rest of us. They would be more careful about our hard-earned money if they were. No one should receive Social Security unless they have paid into the fund for at least 10 years. Illegal immigrants should not receive anything but a trip back to their own country the first time and execution the second time around.

I agree with linwot. It is definately time for an overhaul on the benefits our government receives. We pay for a lot of parties and vacation homes, as well as long time pensions for service not deserved. We have been HAD by the best con artists. This has resulted in a diminished middle class which can no longer support our government and their horrible mismanagement of our money.

If they would take a pay cut- Congress and the Representatives, go on social security like the rest of the American public, pay their onwn health insurance ,

stop with their life-longpenions that they didn't pay a dime for and cut out the wars and wasteful spending- Millions would be saved!! I do not think that Medicare, Medicaid and especially not Social Security should be touched. Some of us depend on it for living expenses. I know it was never intended to be a sole source of retirement funding, but some of us couldn't save any other way.

We hd families to raise and kids to feed.

I was one of those who believed in the democratic party. I am a disable vet, Medically retired and have been working on getting my Social Security for over a year. Working since I was 16 years old, I have put in over 1 million in social security while I worked. I have trouble getting anything back. I have done a lot of research since I have retired and It has been the Democratic party that made us think they were doing everything for the poor and middle class. There is very little middle class left. The democratics, vote immigrants moving into this country at 65 getting SSI Social Security. I can't understand it is Ludicrous. Our jobs over seas and to the south because it is cheaper. Help Aliens and Immigrants to our social security and food stamps and all the rest of our money and leave the americans who were born here fought for the country aget s**t on. The slogan for this country needs to be changed from give us your poor etc. Enough! we are poor we dont need anymore poor coming to this country. The best idea is to quit giving all our hard earned money to aliens and immigrants they live better then a lot of americans. They don't like us anyway so why are we giving them our money our jobs.
